Summer News and Schedule!

Hurray!  It seems as though summer has finally arrived!  It’s wonderful and brief….so make the MOST of it!
Enjoy the sunshine, get outdoors and do something you love:  Cycle, hike, sail, golf, play tennis, swim…
Drinks LOTS of water throughout your day:  Hydrated muscles work more efficiently!  Did you know that losing just 2% of your body weight in fluid can decrease performance by up to 25%?  Whether you’re an elite athlete or a weekend warrior, drinking water during exercise is essential if you want to get the most out of your workout and feel good while you’re doing it!
Circuit Strength Classes:  In addition to your outdoor pursuits, there are LOTS of reasons to include resistance training in your exercise plan at least twice a week! Load-bearing exercise like lifting weights results in improved muscle strength and tone, and protects your joints from injury.  It also helps you maintain flexibility, mobility and balance and enhanced performance of everyday tasks.  Resistance training is associated with the prevention of chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, back pain and depression. Lastly, lifting weights increases bone density and strength and a reduces the risk of osteoporosis. Keep doing your weight workouts throughout the summer months, too!  Check here for the summer schedule.
Add a Yoga class to your week!  A Yoga practice in my studio includes plenty of core work, balance and lots of opportunity for developing muscular strength in a quieter, gentler way.
